Reports are streaming in from a flood of speculators, as usual, that Fabian Coulthard is being vetted for the coveted position of Safety Car driver after his stellar performance in the role at the 2019 Bathurst 1000.
Sources familiar with the situation have told The Waterton Chronicle that with Fabs’ chances of securing an actual racing car seat looking increasingly dismal, the wily old fox has apparently made the best of a bad situation and highlighted his skills. And it seems the strategy is working.
This reporter spoke to Head of Supercars, Paulie the Parity Pelican.
“Yeah, look, we’re eternally grateful to Fabs for giving us an excuse to make Scotty’s Bathurst win be known forever as ‘a bit tainted’ on social media.” the seabird explained.
Apparently Fabs is pitching his ability to listen and adhere to instructions from officials far above him as one of his greatest strengths.
“Yeah man, I totally just did what they told me to do.” Fabs explained.
When asked about the chances of Fabs actually being the Supercars safety car driver, Paulie was adamant.
“Mate, as if we need parity now that Scotty and Penske have gone.”
