Reports are coming in this afternoon that the Ferrari Formula One team held a “Coronavirus Party” over the weekend in a misguided bid to build immunity to the virus.

The initiative, which was apparently inspired by the chicken pox parties of the 1980s, began on Friday night at the team’s Maranello base, with the entire team camping out overnight on the floor of the factory, watching 80s classics like Gremlins, Beetlejuice, and The Land Before Time

Team boss Mattia Binotto told The Waterton Sports Chronicle the event was a “huge success”, with “absolutely everyone becoming infected.”.

“Now we have immunity for Melbourne, perfecto!” he added.

FIA President Jean Todt said there was “absolutely nothing to worry about” for everyone else at the Grand Prix.

“The main thing is that Ferrari will be there, racing.” Todt explained.

More to come.
