With the TEKNO, sorry, “Team Sydney” debacle refusing to stop being entertaining, reports are coming in that rookie Jack Smith has moved slightly up the favourites list for a cheeky Bathurst win in 2020 as James Courtney’s codriver seat options become slimmer by the minute.
As the Teknovirus survivor hunts around for something to drive this year, The Waterton Sports Chronicle has done a bit of googling and worked out that the 2010 Champion’s only slightly realistic option at this point might be to join young Jack for the enduros and hope that he can actually drive by October.
The speculation around a Jack Smith/James Courtney pairing has seen Jack’s odds of winning the Bathurst 1000 drop from a pretty impressive $100,000,000:1 to just $10,000:1 at time of press.
The shortening of odds puts Smith on equal footing with the Coulthard/D’Alberto pairing to win the Great Race, according to the bookies.
More to come.
