With Season 2 of Netflix’s behind the scenes F1 docudrama Drive to Survive hitting screens tonight, it’s become very clear why the price of “swear jars” rose so dramatically in 2019, if in fact it even did.
With former pirate captain and current Haas F1 Team boss Guenther Steiner again having a starring role, The Waterton Sports Chronicle estimates the Haas team alone filled up at least three larger than average jars in the first five minutes of episode one.
Not wanting to be outsweared by their pirate captain boss, Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen had a good crack at filling up another two or three swear jars by about ten minutes in.
Due to editorial guidelines, we can’t publish the majority of what was said, but we can confirm the absolute comedy gold moment so far involves Guenther absolutely fxxkxng losing it after Romain punted Kevin off the track at Barcelona last year.
In the absence of the actual quote, we’ll just confirm that the letters “F”, “MF”, and “C” are plentiful supply, and a door in the Haas F1 Team “motorhome” is renovated.
This reporter suspects Guenther’s epic spray might be topped by Toto Wolff’s assessment of Mercedes’ performance at the German Grand Prix last year.
More to come.
