With Jacques Smith apparently making good progress with learning how to be a racing driver, Brad Jones Racing has today put in place the final piece of the puzzle the team hopes will help the young rookie to keep a bit more of a low profile at the Melbourne GP event in a couple of weeks.
In a stroke of absolute genius given the circumstances, team owner Brad Jones unveiled Specsavers as the main sponsor of the number 4 car for the Melbourne GP round at Albert Park.
The Waterton Sports Chronicle understands the sponsorship deal is intended to run for the whole weekend, or for as long as Smith can keep the car in one piece.
A spokesperson for BJR told this reporter the sponsorship deal is “a real coup” for the team, with Specsavers providing Jack with as many prescription spectacles as he needs throughout the weekend, in a cunning strategy to allow him the best possible opportunity to see the blue flags, and the rear-vision mirror, this time..
“We’ve also fashioned a giant red banner with “SLOW DOWN JACK” in big letters that we plan to hang up at the pit entry just to help him nail his pitstops.” explained the spokesperson.
