After acting like one during the 2019 season when Scotty Mclaughlin didn’t let him win anything, perennial whinger Scott Pye has reportedly brought a whole bunch of tools with him to Team 18 courtesy of newly announced DeWalt sponsorship.
The news comes after a quiet off-season for Pye following several tantrums in the second half of 2019 brought on probably by the realisation that McLaughlin is just better at driving.
The drama culminated in what The Waterton Sports Chronicle has labeled “sour-grapes-gate” in Newcastle where Pye and fellow spanner Nick Percat were allegedly spotted sneaking boxes of actual sour grapes into McLaughlin’s car in an apparent effort to give them a chance of not losing for once.
Pye was unavailable when this reporter sought comment, but his best mate Nick Percat psycho-dialed at least five times before this reporter reluctantly picked up.
“Firstly, you know I’m a Bathurst winner right?” Nick asked, hopefully rhetorically.
“Secondly, Scotty (Pye, definitely not McLaughlin) is really happy to be joining the likes of myself as an ambassador of tools everywhere for 2020.” added Percat.
