Hyundai World Rally Team has this morning listed for sale the i20 WRC car involved in their failed experiment at the Monte Carlo Rally yesterday, with the team going back to the drawing board in its attempt to come up with a revolutionary flying car.
Current World Champion Ott Tanak was pushing hard when on stage 4 the team decided to try out the new “flying fox” mode they’ve been working on during the off-season, with “interesting” results.
“Yeah, it didn’t go quite as well as we’d planned.” Tanak told The Waterton Sports Chronicle.
“For some reason, as soon as we launched off the side of the cliff the car went straight down and became one with the trees and stuff.” he elaborated.
“I was even singing “I Believe I Can Fly” as the team instructed just before we launched. The Ronan Keating version, not the R Kelly one obviously.”.
The team is seeking expressions of interest for the “sort of complete” rally car, with “an abundance of spare parts to be included once they’ve all been retrieved from the impact zone.
