Following a lengthy investigation into what went wrong at last year’s Australian Grand Prix, Renault has announced that local hero and Renault Clio owner Daniel Ricciardo will try a revolutionary new strategy at the start of this year’s race.
Speaking from his local Renault dealership, where his company car is in for it’s third “reliability issue” this year, Ricciardo told The Waterton Sports Chronicle the team has determined that staying on the actual track, at least until after turn one, is a more optimal strategy than taking to the grass and destroying his front end on a concrete drain..
“Yeah, look, we gave it a go last year. It didn’t work. So we’ll probably try something a bit more conventional this year.” he explained.
Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul told The Waterton Sports Chronicle the results of the intensive study had come as a bit of a surprise to the team strategists.
